Open Access Networks

a2b Fiber is in the business of building, operating and maintaining a fibre optic communications network throughout metropolitan Vancouver.  Our network will be a high performance, next generation, “open access” fibre optic network.  Open access networks are different than traditional proprietary fibre optic networks.  Open access networks are generally made available by operators to all communications service providers (CSPs).  Traditional proprietary networks are generally not accessible, through lease or otherwise, to other CSPs.

Our network will have virtually unlimited bandwidth and will be capable of simultaneously delivering various services for multiple and competing providers of voice, video and data services.  Our network will be the first privately owned open access network in Metro Vancouver.

We generate our revenue from leasing dark fibre within the network to CSPs.  We provide our customers with dedicated site-to-site optical fibre connectivity between specific locations or break-out points.  We also provide CSPs with a range of ancillary services including network planning and integration, project and records management and construction and maintenance services.
